About the Data Architect position:
Reporting to the CTO, the Data Architect is a critical early hire who will quarterback the transformation and modernization of Laudio’s data engine and architecture. Our platform performs deep analysis on dozens of data sources, often each with their own semantic and syntactic challenges. You will be expected to own, evolve, and scale these processes as our business takes flight. What is easy with one client is challenging with ten and impossible with a hundred. We aim high here and so must you.
The Data Architect must be a powerful communicator: diplomatic in front of upper management, concise with the business, and clear and purposeful addressing the rest of engineering. A significant portion of the role will require continuous communication with engineers both in the US and Nepal, involving many early mornings the occasional trip to southeast Asia. A passport will eventually be an important part of the job.
The primary responsibility of this role will be to evolve and scale Laudio’s data architecture to meet the next stage of our growth. Our various data repositories will need an architectural refresh and this role will be expected to create, nurture, and help deliver that vision. It will be a hands-on role requiring expertise in the care and feeding of an integrated data ecosystem. Extensive knowledge of cloud architectures and data migrations is also much needed and should be an expected part of this role. This person must be a compassionate mentor, a thought leader, and in the end a tireless advocate of not only the most expedient, but the right solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Own Laudio Data Architecture –
As our platform grows and integrates with more clients and more data types, you’ll keep your eye on the destination. We’ll need to incrementally refactor the artifacts of our architecture as the business scales. You’ll carefully balance the needs of scale with expedience and supportability, clearly rationalizing each tradeoff along the way. You’ll be the steward of the data pipelines, transformations, and processes that produce our core business value.
Hands-On Data Engineer –
This position requires a thought leader who is also a hands-on-keyboard, direct problem solver. You must be comfortable not only designing but also implementing the data strategy we lay out. You’ll work directly with software engineers and tech leaders to effect the platform vision.
International Technical Leader –
With the lion’s share of our product delivery organization located in Nepal, a critical part of this role will be maintaining continuous contact with that organization. As we expand our company’s scope, we will likely continue to pursue top-level technical talent, regardless of where they may live as we embrace our fully remote operational advantage. You’ll need to embrace your position as the leading voice on data architecture among this group of superlative technologists.

- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in various data analyst, engineering and architecture roles.
